5 out of 5 stars Great cover for the price!   August 6, 2009

This inexpensive, basic case for the Kindle DX is certainly worth the price. The leather feels good and the cover bends behind for comfortable reading. The clasp is magnetic and stays out of the way when the cover is open. The white accent stitching is a nice design element and frames the product well.

Inside, the 2 leather corner pieces and the 2 elastic bands fit the Kindle DX well, holding it securely in place. The user is not left wondering if the device will slip from the bands or fall out of the case. All of the buttons and ports are accessible with the cover on, so you won't need to remove the Kindle to use or charge it.

The interior is covered with a light-grey soft cloth. Suede would have been better, but that's too much to ask at this price point. A document pocket and elastic pen loop are nice touches.

All told, this is a good cover at a reasonable price. It works well and you'll never be embarrassed to show off your Kindle in the case.

There are a couple of companies selling this same product under different names. I've ordered from different vendors and they are identical. I'm not sure why this vendor tries to describe it as a mini-note PC Netbook case. It would only fit things sized exactly like the Kindle DX.

3 out of 5 stars Not a bad choice   June 26, 2009

REVISED - There seem to be several sellers that carry this, but seems cheapest here. I originally wrote that this cover is not all leather, but IT MIGHT ACTUALLY BE ALL LEATHER ON THE OUTSIDE. I really can't tell at this point. If it's real leather, it's the really cheap stuff, but that's what the official cover seems to be made of too. I would change the review to four stars at this point. The clasp is made of real leather, and the little straps to hold the device on the outer edge are real leather (which may be how they get away with describing it as leather if the rest is fake). Even if faux leather, good value for the money. Cover folds all the way over pretty easily so you can tuck it behind the device, which is how I like to read with it. Inside the faux leather is a very thin layer of foam and then probably cardboard, and the inner part of the folder is a soft, pleasant flannel-like sueded polyester. It did take Vangoddy four days to actually ship it, but whatever. From what I've read of the official DX cover, this is a way better value, and will protect the device no matter how it's opened. Save yourself thirty bucks.

4 out of 5 stars Buy it if you want something cheap & reliable   April 8, 2010

I needed a quick, less expensive, temperory case when I bought my Kindle DX as it was confusing to decide on a good solid case for long term use. I purchased this case and must say I am satisfied with it. The case is a just a little bigger in size so the edges should help protect the kindle in case you drop it. Its fairly easy to move the kindle in/out of this case and feels secure. Although I use a caselogic now to carry my kindle around, i think this is one of the few DX accessories that provides good value for the money especially if you don't want to spend a lot right after your kindle purchase but do need something to protect your investment.

All the Kindle DX jackets that turned up on the first few pages of my search seemed to offer only two options: too many frills, or else no frills at all. Luckily, I kept looking until I stumbled upon this no-name generic jacket on the last page. It has exactly what I want: a single pocket inside the front cover, a pen loop, and a magnetic flap. Just as importantly, it doesn't have what I don't want: extra space for a booklight that I will never buy. It's solidly built, and the quality of the material is very good. I'm very, very happy with this purchase.

3 out of 5 stars ok for the price   September 8, 2009

I almost returned this cover, but ended up keeping it. What I don't like is that the cover is too thick for the Kindle DX and therefore when closed the cover sits a little askew since there isn't enough thickness to hold it tight. Also, the clasp is magnetic as well as a little divot for a snap. They could have done without the snap to make it close easier. To close it securely I have to turn it over and look to see where to fit the snap it. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but it isn't handy.

I ended up keeping the cover because for $20 I think it is the best solution out there given what the options are now. I'd give this 5 stars if it was made for the Kindle and was THIN and if they took the snap out.
